 Jan. 17, 1994 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; George E. Shamis, 72, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died Monday at
homeBorn July 25, 1921, in Edwardsville, he was a son of the late Anthony and
Margaret Shumbris Shamis. He was a 1938 graduate of Edwardsville High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Following his service in the Army Air Corps, he graduated from Bucknell
University, Lewisburg. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was employed most of his life as a mechanical engineer by Pennsylvania
Power &amp; Light Co., retiring in 1983. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He resided in Scott Township for 25 years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Eleanor P. Swedo, in 1990. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are daughters, Joan Trotter, Fort Sumner, N.M.; Diane B. Shamis,
Tucson, Ariz.; sons, George T., Newmarket, N.H.; Matthew, Pickerington, Ohio;
six grandchildren; sister, Margaret "Peg" Chesluck, Nederland, Texas; brother,
Edward, Edwardsville. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite
library. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Arrangements are under the direction of the Allen Funeral Home, Market and
Eighth streets, Bloomsburg.
