It isn't over yet &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Much of the excitement surrounding the area's football recruiting season
ended this week, with the announcements that the area's two biggest stars have
made their college choicesDan Drogan told Penn State coach Joe Paterno, who
braved the elements for an early week trip to Hazleton, that he would play for
the Nittany Lions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The 6-foot-8, 270-pound offensive lineman was the most highly-recruited
athlete Hazleton Area's Rich Matz has coached, and entertained offers from
nearly all of the nation's top Division I football programs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Meanwhile, Marian Catholic star Mark Makovec committed to Wake Forest
following a weekend visit with the Demon Deacons. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 6-foot-2, 201-pound receiver/defensive back was also recruited by
countless major schools, and was an Associated Press first-team all-state
selection. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Those two decisions, certainly, were the biggest of the year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But there's plenty more to come. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Among high school football coaches in the Wyoming Valley Conference and the
coal region, there are few who make the efforts that Rich Matz and Stan Dick
do to get their kids in college. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 And as usual, there's plenty of local talent headed to colleges of all
levels in the coming weeks and months. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Here's a look at who's who among the rest of Hazleton Area's and Marian
Catholic's football recruits: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hazleton Area's Ryan Cimo , one of the Wyoming Valley Conference's better
kickers in recent times, was the first of area players to commit when he chose
Lafayette. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The biggest of Hazleton Area's offensive stars this season, Dave Kaschak
could find himself playing in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
(PSAC), or possibly at a Division III school. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 5-foot-9, 170-pound running back --who rushed for over 1,000 yards and
broke several school records -- is considering Mansfield University as one
possibility for his football future. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There's also several Division III schools he's considering, as he and coach
Rich Matz await the results of his latest SAT tests. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Cougars' Devon Brutosky could be headed to Lafayette College with
teammate Cimo, through a Kirby Foundation scholarship, which would include a
year of college preparatory curriculum. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In the PSAC, the 6-0, 195-pound fullback is entertaining offers from West
Chester, Mansfield and Indiana (Pa.), and still considering all three. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Like most of his teammates, there's also a few Division III schools in the
running. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Among the other Cougars making college considerations is Jason Ross . The
6-foot-2, 190-pound tight end has a number of Division III colleges on his
list, including Baltimore, Johns Hopkins, Franklin &amp; Marshall, and Muhlenberg. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Also, Mike Holderman is contemplating a few Division III schools. The 6-0,
170-pound senior has King's, Wilkes, and former national power Lycoming on his
short list. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 t Marian Catholic, where the Colts returned to the PIAA Class A playoffs
for the first time since their 1990 state championship, the college recruiters
have come calling. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Senior quarterback Brian Kennedy threw for over 1,500 yards this season,
and has several Division I colleges to choose from. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This weekend, he's visiting the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Kennedy, who's 6-0, 170, also has offers from Virginia Military Institute,
Boston University, Hofstra, and Towson State in Maryland. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jack Pieracini was a devastating linebacker for the Colts this year, and it
has paid off for the 6-1, 200-pound star. He's narrowed his short list to
Colgate, Fordham and Towson State. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Among the others being recruited are defensive lineman Mike Harmanosky ,
defensive end and wide receiver Mike Pirelli , and running back Jason Donadi. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Donadi, at 5-10, 175, was quite an offensive force for the Colts, rushing
for more than 800 yards and scoring 20 touchdowns. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 All three are sought after by PSAC schools, like West Chester,
Millersville, and Bloomsburg. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There's tight end and defensive back Jon Garber , who is considering such
schools as Lycoming and Susquehanna, both Division III colleges. He's also
thinking about Geneva College, an NAIA school in the western end of the state. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 And then there's Jason Norris , a lineman who is heading to a prep school
in lieu of starting college next year.
