Albert Russo &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dec. 22, 1993 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Albert J. Russo, M.D., 85, of Dagupan City, Philippines, died Dec. 22 in
the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 PhillipinesBorn in Wilkes-Barre, on June 19, 1908, he was a son of the late
Alberto and Philomena Russo. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a graduate of Coughlin High School and Notre Dame, cum laude, where
he was editor and chief of the yearbook and played baseball. He was pitcher
for the Senior Citizen Team of Notre Dame as recently as 1993. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He received a degree in medicine from the Medical College of Virginia where
he was editor and chief of Skull and Bones, the medical college newspaper, for
four years. He graduated magna cum laude from a medical college in Virginia.
During his college years he had a book of poetry published, "Smiling Through,"
and later, during his private practice, he wrote "Lee's Command," which
described the Civil War in poetic form. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 For the next 39 years he practiced medicine in the Salem-Roanoke, Va.,
area. Following retirement, he resided in the Phillipines. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by brother and sisters, Michael, Orlanda Repollo
and Ethel Russo. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife, Nina; sons from earlier marriages, Don, Miami; Dan,
Pittsboro, N.C.; David, Gary, N.C.; Jay, Salem, Va.; brother and sister, Aldo
and Bianca James, Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services were held in Virginia.
