Pros and cons of mail ballots debated at Luzerne County legislative meeting

Luzerne County is officially under a winter storm advisory from the National Weather Service as some more snow is expected to hit the area today.

The advisory was set to begin at 1 a.m. this morning, according to the National Weather Service. Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties are also included under the advisory.

Snowfall is expected to begin around that time, and continue throughout the day until the advisory expires at 5 p.m. this evening.

Initial estimates for snow accumulation were set at 2-4 inches when the advisory was issued, around 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

A graphic shared to the National Weather Service’s website and Facebook page around 5 p.m. on Monday indicated that the northern parts of Luzerne County could expect to see between 4-6 inches of snow, while in the southern part of the county the accumulation is expected to be between 3-4 inches.

The snowfall is expected to be heaviest from the predawn hours through the late morning, with the storm beginning to taper off in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service is advising motorists to be careful on the roads during the morning commute, as the snow is expected to create slippery road conditions.
