JACKSON TWP. &#8212; The township supervisors on April 6 addressed concerns involving the disbanding of the township&#8217;s ambulance service.As of early February, the township has been covered under the Back Mountain Regional Fire and EMS service in Dallas.Residents with memberships for the former Jackson Township ambulance company, which is discontinuing its service due to a drop in volunteers, were told they will be &#8220;grandfathered&#8221; into the Back Mountain Regional service until May, at which point the former service will be dissolved and new memberships will be issued.Township Solicitor Jeffrey Malak said it is required by law that all assets from the township&#8217;s former service, including previously used vehicles and equipment, are to be reacquired by the fire department following a 90-day period that will end in May.Fire Chief Dan Manzoni stated his concern that recent news coverage about the discontinuation of Jackson Township&#8217;s ambulance service led people to believe that the township&#8217;s volunteer fire department is also going to close.Manzoni assured residents the fire department will remain open and that its annual fund drive has already begun.In other business:&#8226; The supervisors authorized a reverse subdivision located on Chase Road following the recommendation of the planning commission. The property, which includes two attached structures, will be merged into one deed.&#8226; The township will hire Joseph Fedorchak as a part-time seasonal road worker and accepted, with regret, the resignation of former township engineer Greg Supey.&#8226; The supervisors approved the use of the township building by State Rep. Aaron Kaufer as needed.
