Let doctors decide on President's health, readers declare &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Times Leader asked readers, `Who should decide if a president is too
ill to serve?' What follows are some of the responsesIf a doctor who is a
specialist feels the president is too ill to continue, then for the security
of the nation, the doctor should have the authority to take him out of office
and make him retire. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I certainly don't believe that it should be the government, or just
Congress or the Senate. I do believe that he should be examined by a private
doctor, and not one that the members of the party of the president hire. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I think it should be a battery of doctors and individuals who decide
whether or not the presidents serve. I don't think it should stop at the
president. What about our judges, our doctors, and our lawyers? I think they
need a say in determining their mental health. Because the president can make
too many bad decisions to harm the people. But it should not just be the
family physician. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I think it should be a panel of people, medical doctors and so forth to
decide that, not left to the individual private doctor. But let's not stop
there. What about our judges, our lawyers, and our doctors? Anyone that has to
deal with the public and make decisions. I do feel that you just don't stop
with the president. There are other people in authority who determine things
affecting people and they should too be analyzed and evaluated. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He should, along with his wife and his personal physician. It should be up
to them. Not somebody else, or the public or the other party, or whatever. It
should be up to the president, his wife, and his personal physician. They
should get together and decide. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The current system of evaluating a president's health condition is fine. He
has top notch physicians looking after him along with the vice president and
all his advisers. In voting for the presidential candidate, you are also
voting for his running mate with the reality that he may have to run the
country should something unfortunate happen to the president. The process
President Carter is promoting would create more government bureaucracy which
in the last election is one thing the American people voted to end. I fail to
see the conflict of interest President Carter mentions. Ronald Reagan has been
out of office for six years, and has been diagnosed this year with the
beginning phases of Alzheimer's which consists of memory losses. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, I believe it should be the doctors. I believe the vice president, and
cabinet can recommend to the president that he should see a doctor, and if the
president refuses, something may be wrong, otherwise he should go. But I think
the doctors should be the ones to decide if he is competent and whether or not
he is capable. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I think that this is positively ridiculous to bring this out. A president
should be in there until he dies or is voted out of office. And his health?
How about President Roosevelt and the conference? He couldn't comprehend
anything except Churchill and he had his son alongside of him. He couldn't be
there without somebody like Churchill. And I think that this should be dropped
immediately. Because how many presidents have we had? When was this ever
