Software stocking stuffers &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bear with me for a few seconds while I take my foot out of my mouth. After
advising you a couple of weeks ago not to buy software as a Christmas gift, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I'm here this week to tell you I was wrongPartly wrong, anyway. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While it's still risky business to purchase most software titles for
gift-giving, a company named Sirius Publishing has three titles that minimize
the risk. That's because each of these titles is a collection of diverse
entertainment programs that require minimal computer horsepower to run. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Specifically, the hardware requirements are an IBM-compatible PC that meets
MPC Level I specifications. These specifications are at least a 386-based
computer with 4 MB of RAM, a single-speed CD-ROM, Super VGA display, Microsoft
Windows and a sound card. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If someone on your Christmas list has a PC like that, consider giving
Volume I or II of Sirius' 5-Ft. 10-Pak . For younger computer users, consider
Sirius' newest compilation, the 3-Ft. 6-Pak . &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Great value and clever packaging made the original 5-Ft. 10-Pak a software
best-seller. It contains 10 different and complete CD-ROM programs, each
residing in its own pocket of an accordian-like plastic sheath. That's the
10-Pak part of the title. In case you haven't guessed by now, unfolded the
sheath measures about five feet in length, thereby creating a five-foot,
10-pack of software programs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 We're not talking about a bunch of second-rate programs, either. Among the
titles in Volume I are favorites such as Sierra On-Line's King's Quest V ,
Dynamix's Stellar 7 , Aris Entertainment's Best of Media Clips , Compact
Publishing's Time Man of the Year and Id Software's Doom. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Because of its inventive licensing and marketing strategy, Sirius is able
to offer all of these programs -- along with the five other titles in Volume I
-- for a list price of just $39.95. That's less than the original cost of some
of the individual titles alone. And I've seen an actual selling price of under
$30, which helps explain why the 5-Ft. 10-Pak is still a best-seller. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Volume II and the new 3-Ft. 6-Pak also have the potential to be big sales
hits. With street prices that could fall below $30 and $20, respectively, they
are good gifts to put underneath -- or hang from -- the Christmas tree. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 5-Ft. 10-Pak Vol. II may surpass the original in overall quality. Its
individual titles are Interplay's Battle Chess, Icom Simulations' Sherlock
Holmes Consulting Detective, Pixel Perfect's Dr. Schueler's Home Medical
Advisor, Microsoft's Multimedia Jumpstart, Sierra On-Line's Space Quest IV,
Paramount Interactive's Movie Select and Rock, Rap 'N Roll, Fantazia's Two
Thousand Fonts, Arts and Letters' Warbirds and Sirius' PC Karaoke Family Fun. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 3-Ft. 6-Pak contains Context system's Family Circus, Our House, Discis'
Cinderella, Paramount's Lenny's Music Toons, Sierra's Basic Spelling Tricks,
Humongous Entertainment's Putt-Putt's Fun Pack and Sirius' Sing-Along Kids. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This collection isn't quite as impressive as the others, but for 20
bucks.... &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Of course, if you already own any of the titles in these collections, the
overall value of the collection is diminished somewhat. Also keep in mind that
Sirius' collections are comprised of programs that have been around for
awhile, and in some cases replaced by sequels or newer versions. Anoth
