Joseph Pozda &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dec. 11, 1994 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Joseph C. Pozda, 72, of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday in Wilkes-Barre General &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 HospitalBorn Feb. 1, 1922, in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Frank
and Anna Victoria Zalonis Pozda. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was educated in the Hanover Township public school system and was a
graduate of Hanover Memorial High School, Class of 1940. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II on
board the USS Brooklyn. He was awarded the United States Navy Honorary Service
Button and Service Lapel as well as the Honorary Discharge Emblem. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was employed as a post engineer for 30 years, retiring from Tobyhanna
Army Depot. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church,
Wilkes-Barre, where he served as a trustee of the church and was active in its
fund-raising projects. He was also a member of American Legion Brookside Post
837, Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He and his wife, the former Helen Kotlarchick, celebrated their 48th
wedding anniversary in November. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Constance Drago, in July 1989. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are children, Mrs. Edmund (Arlene) Durso, Wilkes-Barre; Joseph C.
Jr., Leesburg, Va.; Mrs. George (Andrea) Kopack, Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.; Andrew
F., Manassas, Va.; brother, Frank M., Ashley; and three grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday from Simon S. Russin Funeral
Home Inc., 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, with a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m.
in Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, North River Street,
Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Alex Burak, pastor, will officiate. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Plains. &amp;
