American public should not be fooled by those who bad-mouth GATT &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I disagree with the anti-GATT letter which is, in reality, an
anti-free-trade letter written by Mike Thomas (Nov. 26)I am totally in favor
of free trade, the freer the better, for the following reasons:~ There is no
price or wage control in the United States; if free trade is restricted in any
degree, it is not business, industry or labor that will suffer, it is the
general public who will suffer. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If business and industry were to have their enterprises protected by trade
restrictions, these enterprises would be quick to realize that the public
could purchase only their products. The results would be the raising of prices
as soon as possible and as high as possible. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Labor employed by such enterprises would come to the same conclusion. Wages
would begin to rise. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The results of such a situation would be an inflation that could lead to
all kinds of economic evils. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The public should not be fooled when business, industry, and labor state
that free trade could lead to a nationwide economic disaster. Such a statement
is nothing more than a con and a scam designed both by the enterprises and
labor involved, to make the general public pay high prices and higher wages. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
