Stanley Serafin &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Dec. 12, 1994 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Stanley ``Sam'' Serafin, 78, of Chestnut Street, Larksville, died Monday at
the Hospice St. John in-patient unit at Wilkes-Barre General HospitalBorn in
the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, May 4, 1916, he was a son of the
late John and Catherine Bomba Serafin. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a 1934 graduate of Coughlin High School and resided in Larksville
for 44 years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of St. Casimirs Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was active in golfing and won many golf championships. He and his
partner, Alex Sot, won many better ball of partner tournaments at area country
clubs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was last employed at Heavenly Shoes and Reese Enterprises until his
retirement. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Prior to that he was employed for 22 years at Hazard Wire, Rope American
Chain and Cable Co. until the companies closed in 1972. He was also employed
with his brother, George, in a show repair business for several years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army's 9th Recon in
the 9th Infantry Division. He was awarded five campaign stars in the European
Theater. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of American Legion Shawnee Post 463 and Veterans of Foreign
Wars Shawnee Post 1425, Plymouth. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He and his wife, the former Albina Balita, celebrated their 44th wedding
anniversary in October. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by brothers, Walter, Joseph, Peter and Adam, and a
sister, Josephine Jagodinski. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Adam, Shavertown, Kingston
Township, and nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Thursday from S.J. Grontkowski Funeral
Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
in St. Casimirs Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Muhlenburg. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A Christian Wake service will be conducted today. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
