It's always guaranteed to be a big splash when Wyoming Valley West and
Bishop Hoban -- the two traditional in Wyoming Valley Conference boys swimming
-- get together for a meet. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Today, those teams square off at 4:30 p.m. the Valley West's pool at the
high school in Plymouth. And the squads can't wait to hit the water. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "We get together and have a good competition," Valley West coach Frank
Tribendis said. "It brings out the best of both teams. If I didn't get nervous
before a meet like this, it'd be time to retire." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Added Hoban coach Bill Milz, "We give part of our season over to big meets.
We're hoping to do some best times there." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Both coaches are expecting a close meet, with the outcome probably coming
down to which team has the depth to take the most third- and fourth-places
finishes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "They've always had a great program," Tribendis said of the Argents (4-0).
"(Jim) Higgins (the recently retired longtime Bishop Hoban coach) set the
barometer for swimming in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We tried to emulate that
program." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "They have a tremendous program," Milz said of Valley West (5-0)."The
competition makes us better... and the whole league." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Nowhere, perhaps, are these teams so evenly matched as in the 100
breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay -- the meet's final two events. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In the 100 breaststroke, Valley West holds the three fastest times in WVC
Class AAA this season: Mike Sileski, 1:07.25; Jon Rohrbach, 1:07.40; and
Charlie Goff, 1:07.64. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Just .05 seconds behind Goff is the Argents' Rob Lawrence, who holds the
WVC Class AA second-fastest time of the season at 1:07.69. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In the 400 freestyle relay, Bishop Hoban's Mike Eustice, Mike Davis, Andy
Milz, and Rob Lawrence hold the season's fastest WVC Class AA time of 3:34.54. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Just .07 seconds behind is the Valley West quartet of Goff, Brett Liese,
Jon Rohrbach and Jason Lewis, who recorded the fastest WVC Class AAA time of
the season of 3:34.61. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While Bishop Hoban's Brian Ginoccetti is a solid favorite in the diving,
Tribendis said that Spartan divers won't be far behind. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Brian's a great diver, but if he slips up we'll be right behind him,"
Tribendis said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
