HAZLETON -- Two men allegedly involved in the Sept. 29 fatal beating of
Andrew Danko tried to get into his home acting as pizza deliverers, newly
released court papers say. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 When that didn't work, Wilson Hernandez, 18, and Juan Torres, 19, allegedly
used a woman the victim knew to get Danko to open his door, the papers say. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Danko opened the door to allow Amber Troutman, age and address not listed,
inside and Hernandez and Torres later followed, attacking Danko, knocking him
down steps and hitting him with a handgun and kicking him before fleeing with
cash and drugs, the papers say. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The papers were released Monday as Hazleton police accused two Hazleton
area men of plotting with Torres and Hernandez, both of Brigantine, N.J., to
rob Danko. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police arrested Hernandez and Torres in October and each faces charges of
criminal homicide, robbery and criminal conspiracy. They remain jailed. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On Monday, police charged Brian Collins, 24, of Shenandoah, and Ray Flores,
19, of Hazleton, with criminal conspiracy to commit robbery. Court papers, in
the form of an arrest warrant affidavit released as Flores and Collins were
arraigned, say they have admitted plotting to rob Danko, going to his home and
waiting outside in a van the night the robbery turned fatal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The new defendants' preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 3
p.m., Feb. 14, before District Justice Thomas Sharkey. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police say they found out about Collins' and Flores' involvement in
separate interviews with each of them late last month. The affidavit, which
police say reflects some details of the interviews, as well as interviews with
others who knew of the robbery plan, says: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Collins traveled to Atlantic City, N.J. the Sunday before the fatal beating
to plan with Hernandez and Torres to rob Danko, whom they knew had drugs, cash
and jewelry. Hernandez is a friend of Collins and an ex-boyfriend of Troutman. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The group wanted to rob Danko in hopes of getting a large sum of cash and
drugs, believing Danko would not report the crime because that would be an
admission he had possessed drugs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Collins said that he told Hernandez and Torres several times not to hurt
Danko, and Hernandez assured him they would only "knock him out" if necessary.
Collins was promised enough money to move to Atlantic City with his girlfriend
and was given $1,500 following the robbery. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The day before the beating, Hernandez told Troutman of the robbery plan and
asked her where Danko kept his money. Hernandez also contacted Flores about
the plan, and all of them met later that night at Collins' home on Carson
Street. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Flores said he initially did not want to get involved but was persuaded
when Hernandez told him he would only act as a "lookout." He received $50 and
a small bag of marijuana after the robbery. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The night of the robbery, Hernandez and Torres carried a pizza box to
Danko's home but the ploy didn't work, for a reason not noted by police. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 They elicited Troutman's help by telling her to go to Danko's door and tell
Danko she needed access to get clothes she had left in the home; she had lived
with Danko until late September. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hernandez and Torres waited a few moments before following Troutman into
the home, and attacked him at the top of basement steps, tumbling down the
steps with him. Troutman says Hernandez hit Danko repeatedly in the head with
a handgun while Torres kicked him while he lay at the bottom of the stairs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 His body was found by his parents the next day. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police say that, in all, seven people went to Danko's house in a van the
night he died, although only Hernandez, Troutman and Torres entered. Allegedly
outside in the van were driver and van owner Laura Gutgesell, Troutman's
sister Jessica, Collins and Flores, the affidavit says. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Others may be charged, police say. A trial for Hernandez and Torres is set
to begin in the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas on March 20. Both men are
being held in in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
