WILKES-BARRE -- The rivalry between the Wyoming Valley West and Bishop
Hoban swim teams has gone on for over 20 seasons. Both teams are usually
undefeated when they clash, and the winner of the meet has won the Wyoming
Valley Conference every year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Valley West used six different winners in taking seven of nine individual
events and swept all three relays to defeat Hoban 66-36 Wednesday at the
Wilkes-Barre CYC. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wyoming Valley West has now defeated Hoban seven straight years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "This is always the biggest meet of the year," Valley West coach Frank
Tribendis said. "This meet brings out the best in the kids. The rivalry has
gone back a long time." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The victory left Valley West 4-0 and one step closer to the conference
title. Hoban fell to 4-1. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jon Rohrbach, Mike Sileski, Charlie Goff and Brett Liese got the Spartans
off to a good start by winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:45.13. And
Valley West then swept the next four events to pull away 29-13. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Those winners were Eric Wanyo in the 200 freestyle, Rohrbach in the 200 IM,
Goff in the 50 freestyle and John Fronzoni in diving. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wanyo was the big winner for the Spartans, taking two individual events and
swimming a leg in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mike Davis captured Hoban's first win in the 100 butterfly in 55.63. Davis
was a two-time winner for the Argents as he also won the 100 backstroke in
55.84. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "He (Davis) swam well in the individual events," said Hoban coach Bill
Milz. "He's got a ton of natural ability and is swimming faster now than he
was last year when he broke the state record in the 100 backstroke." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wanyo's second win came in the 500 freestyle as Valley West won five of the
last six events. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Brett Liese, in the 100 freestyle, and Mike Sileski, in the 100
breaststroke, were the other two individual winners for the Spartans during
the second half of the meet. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In the 200 freestyle relay, Sileski, Liese, Brian Monico and Wanyo were
winners with a time of 1:36.49. And Goff, Wanyo, Matt O'Connor and Rohrbach
won the 400 freestyle relay. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I was pleased with their effort," Milz said. "I told the kids that we
couldn't beat them on the scoreboard. I said, `Just do your best, and that way
they can be proud they gave 100 percent."' &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We won the first 15 and, they won the last seven meetings," Milz said of
the rivalry. "Hopefully, we can get back to where we're even again." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
