All sex offenders should register with police, callers say &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Respondents to the News Talk question in Sunday's Times Leader
overwhelmingly agreed that non-violent sex offenders should be required to
register with policeThe question was prompted by a story that explained why a
new state law that makes public the private pasts of some sex offenders won't
apply to former WNEP Channel 16 reporter and convicted pedophile Jim Renick. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; None of the charges of which the 46-year-old was convicted makes him
eligible for the conditions of the new law. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The following is a sampling of the more than 15 responses to the question: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I believe all sex offenders should register with the police in all states,
especially child sex offenders. Even if there is no violence, the sex offender
ruins the victims and the victims' families' lives. When my daughter was 3,
she was molested. I wish I had some warning, because maybe it wouldn't have
happened and maybe she wouldn't have needed years of therapy. They don't
punish these people severely enough. At least they could notify neighborhoods
of the their crimes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, they should. By the time they have committed a violent sex act, it's
too late. Too many lives have been hurt. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, I think they should. I wouldn't want anybody like that living next to
me. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In my opinion, there is no such animal as a non-violent sex offender.
Whether the crime is physical or mental, violence is always involved. Victims
of sex crimes are robbed of their self-worth and self-esteem and scarred most
often times for life. Especially when children are involved the public has a
right to know. The animal who is a sex offender has his rights protected while
innocent victims or potential victims are stripped of their rights. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 They certainly should. They bring tragedy to young children. Shame on them.
They should talk to the police, especially that Renick. I wouldn't want him
around my children. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes they should because they are all perverts. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Child molestation, non-violent or violent, is still a crime. They should be
made to register with the police. People like this end up coaching Little
League, working with children in schools or in other areas that they have easy
access to children. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, I definitely think non-violent sex offenders should be required to
register with the police. What if just one incident makes them go over? We
have a lot of children to think about. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I think non-violent should most definitely be required to register with the
police. It's a well-known fact that pedophiles do this over and over. I don't
care if they were violent or non-violent. If they were non-violent, it means
they could persuade their victims. I have a right to know. I have three small
children. They're so concerned about their privacy. They should have thought
of that before they did this. When you do something like this, you're right to
privacy is gone. People have a right to know. We have a right to know. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 They should absolutely be required to register with the police. They are
criminal offenders, and the children's health and welfare is at stake. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yes, they should be required to register with the police because they still
are perverts. If I was in charge of criminal justice, anybody who molested a
child should be put to death. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 No, they shouldn't be allowed to register with the police. They should be
dead. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After having had an uncle do something to me when I was a little girl, they
definitely should be required to register with the police. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
