Former Welsh international soccer star Christopher Connolly knows he needs
help to bring professional soccer to Northeastern Pennsylvania. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 And a great deal of it must come from the area's youth soccer
organizations, if the proposed team that will play at Lackawanna County
Stadium is to become a successful reality. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Connolly has one avid supporter in Scranton's Gordon Butler, who is
involved with recreational soccer locally as a parent, coach and
administrator, and is also involved with youth soccer on a national level. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Butler has coached non-competitive recreational teams for the United States
Youth Soccer Organization, and is also a coach for the Soccer Organization for
Youth, a national organization with 6,500 players in the Scranton area. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Overall, Connolly said, there are more than 20,000 youths involved in
various organizations throughout the area. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I think if we had a pro soccer team in the area, I think it would be well
patronized," Butler said. "I think an awful lot of people would pay to see pro
soccer." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Butler said that he has paid as much money to see a World Cup game as what
Connolly said season tickets for the Natives would cost ($70.) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I know a lot of people in the area who would pay that," Butler said. He
added he knows several kids in the area who attend MLS games despite the
high-price tickets. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Butler also said that having a local professional team run camps and
clinics would be a successful venture"just because of the sheer number of kids
involved with soccer around here," he said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Butler said bringing in clinicians has driven up the cost of running camps.
He said area soccer players are paying from $80 to $450 to attend camps
because many of the clinicians are coming from other states. Butler added that
the number of area locations that offer soccer camps -- Tunkhannock High
School, Abington High School, College Misericordia and Penn State/Worthington
to name a few -- reflects the level of area interest in soccer. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's very important that all the heads of every single soccer organization
and league in the community get together and ask themselves how pro soccer
will help them and help develop soccer in the area," Connolly said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
