Real Independence Day will come when all children have a right to live &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In response to Steve Corbett's column, ``Reproductive rights for all,'' my
daughter and I thank God that we live in a state where a woman who chooses
abortion has to face anti-abortion forcesMr. Corbett has made some pretty
broad statements about pro-lifers in general. I wonder how many of us he has
really gotten to know. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Neither my daughter nor myself support capital punishment. Both of us work
with either children or the elderly, so I don't feel that we have forgotten
the living. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The majority of pro-lifers that I know are peace-loving people with a
devout belief in God~, who believe in peaceful demonstrations. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Unfortunately, abortion has become a political issue, and it shouldn't be.
It is a moral issue, a question of right and wrong. Just because abortion is
legal in the United States does not make it right. At one time in our history
slavery was legal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mother Teresa has been quoted as saying that we are the poorest country on
earth because we don't defend the unborn. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As two of the army ~of faithful souls of the Catholic Church, my daughter
and I do consider abortion murder. Life begins at conception. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I have given birth to four wonderful children. Their lives did not start at
the moment of birth; it started at conception. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Roberto Rodriguez was in his mothers womb 22 weeks when the doctors cut
open her uterus and removed a large growth from Roberto's lung. They then
placed Roberto, who weighed 1/2 lb. back in his mother's uterus. He was born
13 weeks later with a set of healthy lungs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I guess in Steve Corbett's eyes, Roberto was not a life. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ~ Steve Corbett wants quality life for all children. So do we, but that's
very doubtful in a country that places so little value on human life. Whether
you call it a fetus or a baby, it is still alive. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On Independence Day we talk about our rights. There are some things we do
not have a right to do. Abortion is one of those things. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It is a child, not a choice. When all human life is protected, we will have
reason to celebrate. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 That will truly be an Independence Day. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
