Patrick Sweeney &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 July 22, 1996 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Patrick J. Sweeney, 71, of Fourth Street, Moosic, died Monday in the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-BarreBorn Sept. 26,
1924, in Pittston, he was the son of the late William and Liguoria Coleman
Sweeney. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He graduated from St. John's High School, Pittston, and served with the
U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a self-employed tax consultant, and was a member of Plains American
Legion Post 558; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4954, Old Forge; Moose Lodge
No. 1207, West Pittston; Mid-Valley Old Timers Club. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 1986; brothers, Thomas,
George and William Sweeney; a sister, Shirley Sweeney. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are sons, Patrick Jr., Wyoming; William, Binghamton, N.Y.; a
stepson, William Carey, Pittston; a daughter, Rose Provost, New Jersey;
stepdaughters, Sharon Dadson, Rochester, N.Y.; Darleen Manley, Old Forge;
Sally Kwak, Moosic; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and
nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the Kizis-Lokuta
Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10
a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
