PITTSTON YMCA COMPLETES CAMPS: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Greater Pittston YMCA recently completed three basketball camps, two
for children in grades one, two and three, and another for fourth-, fifth- and
sixth- gradersThe first camp for first-, second- and third- graders ran from
June 24-28. The players who joined the first session were: Ashley Deeble,
Christopher O'Dell, Joseph Rossi, Kyle Sowers, Matthew O'Dell, Adam Szumski,
Billy DeAngelo, Christy and Diana Cudworth, Jack Cavanaugh, Jeff Brown,
Christopher Cardillio, John Witko, Kevin Bobeck, Craig Werts, Richard and Adam
Chick, Phillip Cumbo and Chris Blazosek. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The campers shot at 8-foot baskets and learned the fundamentals of the
game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The second session for grades one to three ran from July 8-12 and had 20
participants. Chris Blazosek, Kevin Bobeck, Jack Cavanaugh,, Phillip Cumbo,
Timmy Della Rosa, Chris Kmetz, Andrew Miele, Daniel Mullen, D.J. Trunzo, Erin
Chesnavich, Laura DeCesaris, Kasha Kultys, Patrick Lizza, Edward Mullen,
Ashley Rome, Brian Simko, Scott Sznyter, R.J. Orr, Andrew Bell and Daniel and
Jeffery Hamilton were the participants. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The players received certificates for attending, for perfect attendance and
for lap winners. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The session for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders ran from July 8-12 and
had 18 participants. Activity winners were: Matt Dziak, sprint winner; Fred
Roughsedge, hot shot and defensive slide lap winner; Chris Pellegrini and Matt
Egan, free throw co-champs; Matt Egan, back ward lap winner; Justin Sherin
Edward Halat and Matt Egan, three-on-three champs; Chris Pellegrini, Matt
Egan, Justin Sherin, Ed Halat and Matt Dziak, five-on-five champs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Other participants in the fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade session were:
Kerri Dencola, Joshua Johnston, Andrew Rozelle, Kristen Klimchack, Nicole
DePhillips, Kira Marie Jugus, Grace Kania, Jared Karsko, Cassy Ninotti, Ariana
Andrejko, Katie Starzec and Paul Drebait. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 STIMMEL, HEWETT LEAD PA. AMATEUR: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Pennsylvania Golf Association completed the second round of the 83rd
Amateur Championship on Tuesday at the Lake View Country Club in North East,
Pa. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Rick Stimmel of the St. Jude Golf Club and Dave Hewett of Lake View Country
Club are the leaders after the second round. Stimmel shot a one-under par 71
for both rounds while Hewett shot 70 and 72. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After the second round, the field of 132 participants was reduced to 40
with the cutoff at 9 over par 153. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 NORTH VALLEY WINS TWICE IN TOURNEY: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 North Valley defeated Kingston 14-6 and South Wilkes-Barre 6-4 recently in
the Christian 16-year old All-Star Tournament. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Tony Tarnilicki was the winning pitcher versus Kingston, allowing three
earned runs and five hits in a complete game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The top hitters for North Valley were Steve Colleran, who had three hits
and four RBI, Steve Finelli, with two doubles and three RBI, and Jeremy
Bohonko, with a double and three RBI. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Versus South Wilkes-Barre, Rob Wojtowicz was the winning pitcher. Wojtowicz
had 10 strikeouts in a three-hit, complete game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Colleran and Finelli led North Valley's hitting attack with two hits
apiece. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 PIECZYNSKIS EXCEL: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Greg Pieczynski won his third Philadelphia PGA Junior Tournament, and his
sister, Janette, was chosen to the all-star team of the Eastern Invitational
Basketball Camp in Trenton, New Jersey. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Greg shot an 81 at the Irem Temple Country Club in the 12-13 year old
division. He also won tournaments at Mount Laurel Country Club and Paupack
Hills Golf Club. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Besides making the Eastern Invitational Camp's all-star team, Janette was
named MVP of the championship game at the end of camp. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 CASTERLINE ADDED TO WILKES STAFF: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Renee Casterline, a 1996 graduate of Wilkes University, has been hired as a
graduate assistant in the Wilkes Athletic Department. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Casterline, who graduated from Seton Catholic as the all-time assists
leader, transferred to Wilkes after a season at Millersville University and
averaged 3.7 points and 2.2 assists per game while splitting time at point
guard. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She will be working as an assistant coach for the women's basketball and
soccer teams while attending graduate school at Wilkes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 COLONELS CORNER TO AIR SEPT. 19: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wilkes University coaches' show, Colonels Corner, will begin its fourth
season of production in September. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The show is produced and hosted by Wilkes Sports Information Director Tom
McGuire and will air on WYLN-TV (formerly PCTN-TV) at 2 p.m. each Thursday
beginning September 19. Colonels Corner will feature Wilkes football coach
Frank Sheptock and highlights of Wilkes football games. It also will have a
preview of that week's upcoming game and a rundown of the Middle Atlantic
Conference standings. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This year, Colonels Corner will have a new segment which features the
coaches of other fall sports at Wilkes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 LOCAL COACHES TO SPEAK AT KING'S: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 King's College's Jim Casciano Basketball Camps will have five local college
coaches attending as guest speakers during its two sessions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Casciano, who was recently named head basketball coach at King's, will hold
two camps, from July 29 to August 2 and August 5-9. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The first camp will have head coaches Dave Martin (College Misericordia),
Jim Atherton (Luzerne County Community College) and Ed Cosgrove (Marywood
College). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The second camp will have Wilkes head coach Jerry Rickrode, Scranton
University head coach Bob Bessoir and Martin. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Each camp will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to boys and girls aged
9-17. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
