Appreciating parents' help &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I'm thrilled to be able to look up in the stands each game and see two of
the most important people in my life. That is my mother, Ruth, and my father, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; DaveThey mean the world to me. I can go back to when I was three years old
and remember how they have helped me. My dad taught me how to throw a
baseball. When I wanted to play Little League, my dad said to me, "If you want
to try, go right ahead." I ended up playing Little League softball, and my mom
and dad's support backed me in that. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 They've always supported me. They've never doubted any of my decisions.
When I retired from playing, they supported me in that decision. When I wanted
to come back and try out, they were behind me 100 percent. I could not have
made it to the Olympics without their help. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The support they give me is more than just financial. The looks of
encouragement and the smiles pick me up when I'm down. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 One of the things that is a little disturbing to me is that I'm not allowed
to see them much because of all of the security down here. I get to see them a
little after games, and I was able to have lunch with them the other day. But
I knew that would be the case, and I was able to prepare my parents for what
it was going to be like down here. As usual, they were very understanding. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Just the fact that they are in the stands is a thrill for me. I'm ecstatic
that they're here and able to see all this. My mom and dad deserve it for all
they've done for me. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
