Crestwood to hire 4-5 teachers &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 RICE TWP. -- The Crestwood School Board reviewed its hiring policy in
anticipation of filling several new positions for the 1996-97 school yearAt
the board's work session Thursday, Superintendent Dr. Gordon Snow presented a
condensed version of the district's current policy, highlighting the general
principles and concepts that will be used for reviewing applicants for the
upcoming school year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Snow announced that the district will be hiring four or five teachers at
the elementary and secondary level to replace retirees or teachers on a leave
of absence. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Also to be hired for the 1996-97 year will be two special education aides
and three aides for the high school who will monitor the cafeteria and
lavatories. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interviews for the positions, which were posted July 3, will begin Aug. 7
and will last about two weeks, Snow said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other business: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The board approved tenure for the following teachers: Charles Herring,
James McGovern, Mary Burke and Cynthia Hettinger. A teacher qualifies for
tenure after two years of service. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The board approved accident insurance policies for the 1996-97 school year
from the Combined Insurance Company of America. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Accident insurance for varsity football players will be provided at the
flat fee of $4,500, which is $300 less than last year's cost of $4,800. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Student accident insurance will be offered to parents at the following
rates: $108 for 24-hour coverage and $31 for coverage only while the student
is at school. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
