Meeting vice president a real treat &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I didn't know there was such a thing as presidential M &amp; Ms until Friday.
The box is small, but really neat. It is white, with the Great Seal of the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; President of the United States on it along with Bill Clinton's signature in
blueWe received this gift when we met Vice President Al Gore and his family
following our game with Germany. The Gores watched the entire game, then came
down and met us after the game and we exchanged gifts. Boxes of M &amp; Ms were
part of the exchange. I guess the Vice President of the U.S. doesn't get his
own M &amp; Ms. We did appreciate the gift and the visit. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Since this is an election year, people tend to think that this was done for
politics, but Vice President Gore and his family seemed very sincere about
their interest in field hockey. Mrs. Gore and two of her three daughters
played field hockey in high school, so they definitely have an affinity for
the sport. If this was about politics, they could have picked a number of
other events where they could have been seen by more fans and members of the
media than at a field hockey game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The fact that the Vice President was at the game did not affect the way we
played. After two straight losses, we really needed a win. We didn't get it,
but the 1-1 tie keeps us in the hunt for a medal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After the game, we were able to relax and enjoy the meeting with the Gores,
which lasted about 15 minutes. It was a casual meeting. We thanked them for
coming. They congratulated us for being in the Olympics. Then we exchanged
gifts, which included the Presidential M &amp; Ms. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 We did get to meet President Clinton the day of the opening ceremonies.
President Clinton addressed the entire U.S. team, but we weren't able to be
there. We had a team meal since we had a game early the next morning. We were
lucky though. President and Mrs. Clinton came into our dining hall and talked
to us while we were eating. We gave them both a USA Hockey hat and they wished
us good luck. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 When you meet people of that magnitude who are supporting field hockey, you
appreciate it very much. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
