 SAT review course &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus in Lehman will offer a review course to
help high school students prepare for the verbal and math portions of the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Scholastic Assessment Test from 6-9 p.m. on Monday evenings, from Aug.
19-Oct7. The course will be held in the gymnasium of the Athletics and
Recreation Building. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The review will prepare students for the SAT tests to be held on Oct. 12
and Nov. 2. The fee is $100 for either the verbal or math course, or $175 for
both. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 L-L Band Sponsors host dance lessons &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Lake-Lehman Band Sponsors are hosting country line dance lessons from
7:30-9 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Idetown Firehall. The lessons are $3 for adults
and $2 for children under the age of 12. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Maureen Paley, a junior at Bishop O'Reilly High School, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 attended Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 1996 on July 7-13 at Lycoming
College, Williamsport. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week is a national award-winning economic
education program which offers students and teachers an inside look at the
private enterprise system and the free market. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Paley, who was granted a full scholarship to the program, is the daughter
of Bob and Mary Paley of Shavertown. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 School announces student schedules &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Robert O. Roberts, principal of Lake-Lehman Middle Level Education
Building, announces that schedules and locker information for the 1996-97
school year will be mailed to all seventh grade students and new students on
or about Aug. 16. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The school will be open to seventh and eighth grade students from 10
a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. on Aug. 19-23, and from 7-9 p.m. on Aug. 22. At those
times, students will be able to open their assigned lockers, locate their
classrooms, and acquaint themselves with the school building. A school
counselor will also be available during those hours to make changes to or
answer questions about schedules. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

their final activity in Joan Rakowski's science unit on the environment by

 The Victims Resource Center recently presented educational programs to
students at Lake-Lehman Elementary School. The Victims Resource Center
provides support services to victims of crime and their families in Luzerne
and Wyoming Counties, as well as to domestic violence victims in Wyoming

 Jamie Rhodes recently won the sixth grade geography bee at Lehman-Jackson
Elementary School. He was presented with a plaque at the annual Awards Day

 Colour Guard wins honor &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Knights of Lake-Lehman Indoor Colour Guard was crowned the 1996 Novice
Atlantic Coast Champion recently in a competition with 60 other guards in
Wildwood, N.J. The Knights also finished an undefeated season of competitions
throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania during the winter months.
The band director at Lake-Lehman is Edward A. Richards. Maureen Richards is

 Students celebrate Earth Day &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Students in Elaine Moran's first grade class at Westmoreland Elementary
School celebrated Earth Day with a special `Save the Bluebird' project. Tim
Conway of the Pennsylvania Game Commission distributed kits to make bluebird
nesting boxes. Under the guidance of Conway, Moran, and Mary Barbara Gilligan,
each student constructed a bluebird box. Jerry Kozlansky, environmental
education specialist at Frances Slocum State Park, spoke to the students about
the plight of the bluebird. The completed boxes will be used in the state

 Several students in Kathleen Farrell's mathematics classes at Dallas Middle
School recently participated in the Math Counts Competition at the Penn State
Lehman campus. Eighth grader Morgan McOwen placed 10th in the top 10, and
Michael Davies, also an eighth grader, qualified for the state competition in
Carlisle, where he scored the highest of any competitor from Luzerne County.
