MOOSIC -- After picking up his second rehabilitation victory for the
Pawtucket Red Sox, Mike Maddux proclaimed himself ready for a return to
Boston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Based on the way he pitched Tuesday, nobody at Lackawanna County Stadium
disagreed. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Maddux cooled off his old Scranton/Wilkes-Barre teammates by allowing just
one hit over four innings, sparking Pawtucket's 10-3 victory over the Red
Barons. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I feel good," said Maddux, a Boston relief pitcher who has been disabled
with a right elbow strain and then a pulled groin muscle for most of the past
month. "I'm ready." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "They'll make that decision in Boston," said Pawtucket manager Buddy
Bailey. "But I don't think he'll pitch here much more. If he does, it'll be
just one more time." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Maddux, the brother of four-time National League Cy Young award winner Mike
Maddux of the Atlanta Braves, pitched briefly for the Red Barons in
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's inaugural season of 1989. He still holds the
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre record with 12 strikeouts in a game, and enjoyed his
return to Lackawanna County Stadium -- a little more than the Red Barons would
have liked. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Maddux beat a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team that lost for just the second time
in its past nine games, holding the Red Barons scoreless during the first four
innings. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The right-hander allowed all three Red Barons runs in the bottom of the
fifth, on Howard Battle's two-run double and a run-scoring double from David
Tokheim. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But he left with a 5-3 lead, while picking up his second Class AAA victory
of the season in three rehab starts. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "He mixes pitches well and he's got great location," said Red Barons
manager Ramon Aviles. "He just kept the hitters off-balance. He was a pitcher
for those four innings." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Meanwhile, Pawtucket used a two-run homer from Rudy Pemberton in the second
inning to take a 2-0 lead, and never looked back. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The PawSox put together a four-run rally in the eighth to take a 10-3 lead
against former Philadelphia Phillies closer Mitch Williams, who is trying to
make a comeback to the major leagues with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 That allowed International League East-leading Pawtucket, now 60-51, to
take a 3 -game over second-place Syracuse and boost its lead to 4 games over
the Red Barons. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Obviously a big win for us, starting the series over here," Bailey said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
