WILKES-BARRE -- A city man was sentenced to two years probation Tuesday in
an attack on his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at a Barney Street home
in January. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ray Garrett, 31, was sentenced by Luzerne County Common Pleas Senior Judge
Bernard C. Brominski in connection with an assault on Jan. 25. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Garrett, of South River Street, pleaded guilty in June to two counts of
simple assault and one count of reckless endangerment. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As part of his sentence, he must not have contact with the victim, Dale
Zalutko, who claimed she suffered bites to her face and neck in the attack. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Newport Twp. man gets jail in drug case &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 WILKES-BARRE -- David J. Bukofski, 31, of Main Street, Glen Lyon, Newport
Township, was sentenced Tuesday in Luzerne County Court to six months to 23
months on each of two counts of delivering a controlled substance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Luzerne County Common Pleas Judge Mark Ciavarella sentenced Bukofski, who
pleaded guilty in March to the charges. Bukofski will serve his sentence in
the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Drug case brings jail &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 WILKES-BARRE -- David Natt, 42, of Carson Street, Hazleton, was sentenced
to three months to one year in jail on Tuesday by Luzerne County Common Pleas
Senior Judge Bernard C. Brominski for possession with intent to deliver
marijuana. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Natt was charged with drug law violations in December and pleaded guilty in
June to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Grand jury indicts 2 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 in transporting aliens &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 SCRANTON -- Two men suspected of trying to smuggle 29 Mexican illegal
aliens to New Jersey in June were indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 State police had stopped a rental truck from Phoenix, Ariz., on Interstate
80 near the border of Luzerne and Carbon counties for following another
vehicle too closely. An officer heard sounds in the back of the truck and
found 29 suspected illegal workers there. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Noel Castaneda-Dominguez, 25, and Julian Tapia-Castaneda, 31, the driver of
the van, were indicted on charges of transporting illegal aliens and aiding
and abetting. Tapia-Castaneda is a U.S. citizen and lives in Kennett Square.
The other man's address is not known. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A spokeswoman for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services said
many of the aliens were picked up in Chicago. They were traveling to
Bridgeton, N.J., where they planned to work, police said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Immigration officials said the illegal aliens face deportation hearings. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
