BUTLER TWP. -- An elderly man apparently drowned Monday evening while
trying to return home after the lawn tractor he was driving became stuck in a
ditch, said investigators. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Robert Fuehrer, 81, of Sunset Drive, Drums, was cutting grass about a mile
from his home Monday afternoon in a rural section of the township when his
tractor became mired, said Mark Harman, Luzerne County deputy coroner. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; While Fuehrer was walking toward his home, he apparently tried to cross an
18-foot section of Little Nescopeck Creek, fell into the fast-moving current,
and drowned. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Butler Township police, along with the Northeast Search and Rescue team,
state police and the Luzerne County Sheriff's Office, began searching for
Fuehrer shortly after he was reported missing at 4:30 p.m. Monday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bruce Barton, chief of the search and rescue team, said bloodhounds from
New Jersey led searchers from the tractor to the area where the body was found
in the middle of the stream at approximately 10:40 p.m., Harman said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The investigation into Fuehrer's death is continuing, though Harman said
foul play is not suspected. The preliminary cause of death is accidental
drowning, he said. Harman said no autopsy is planned. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Fuehrer's family was not available for comment Tuesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
