BLOOM WOMEN'S TEAMS RANKED IN TOP 10: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bloomsburg University's field hockey and women's soccer teams are ranked in
the NCAA Division II top 10 by College Sports MagazineThe field hockey team
will begin its season as the top-ranked Division II team in the country. Nine
starters return from last year's team that finished second in the country with
a 19-3 record. The Bloomsburg field hockey team also finished second in 1994. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The women's soccer team is ranked eighth in the preseason. The Lady
Huskies, who are 18-0 in the PSAC during the past two years, finished last
season ranked eighth with a 15-2-1 record. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 FORTY FORT ADVANCES IN DIRECTOR'S CUP: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Forty Fort defeated Northwest 7-6 Monday in a semifinal of the Northwest
Director's Cup Little League baseball tournament. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Rich Lynn was the winning pitcher with a complete game. Joel Floryan led
the offense with a three-run home run and a single. Chris and Rich Lynn each
had a pair of singles. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Forty Fort will play Newport at 6 p.m. today for the championship. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 LOCALS PLACE 2ND IN N.Y. SOFTBALL EVENT: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Northeast Stars 18-and-under team recently finished second with a 5-3
record in the Binghamton Girls Fast-pitch Tournament. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The tournament included teams from Canada, New York, Connecticut,
Massachusetts, Maryland and Pennsylvania. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Northeast Stars were led by Kelly Beres, Heather Sonnenberg and Chris
Gagliardi, all of Hanover Area; and sisters Kim and Kelly Spencer, of
Lake-Lehman. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kim Spencer caught eight games in two days without giving up a stolen base
and had five extra base hits. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Other members of the team are: Erin Casey, Scranton Prep; Lindsay Dempsey,
Valley View; Michele Dreistadt and Samantha Zigmont, Riverside; Kristen
Hricenak, Bishop O'Hara; Amanda Koldjeski, Beth Misiura and Abby Smith,
Abington Heights; and Amy Walsh, West Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Northeast Stars finished their tournament season with a 28-17 record
and a Drifton Classic League record of 13-3. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 COUGHLIN GREAT TO PLAY FOR GOUCHER: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Coughlin High School's Steve Horensky, one of the premier three-point
shooters the last two years in Wyoming Valley Conference basketball, will
continue his academic and athletic pursuits at Goucher College in Towson, Md. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 6-foot-3-inch guard was among the WVC leaders in three-pointers as a
junior and season for coach John Quinn. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "He loves to play basketball," the Crusader coach said. "He works very hard
at his game and will fit in very well at Goucher." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Goucher head coach Mike Trevino said, "We are very excited that Stephen has
decided to attend Goucher this fall. His tremendous work ethic and ability to
shoot the perimeter shot will provide added depth at the guard slot." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
