 Sister Nivarda Filip S.C.C. will celebrate her Golden Jubilee on Saturday,
Aug. 17 with a Mass at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Nanticoke. A reception
will follow in the church parlors. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sr. Nivarda is being recognized for her 50 years of dedication to her faith
and for religious education at churches &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sister Filip throughout the area. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She taught at schools in New Jersey, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania and
served as a former principal of St. Nick's/St. Mary's School, Wilkes-Barre.
She recently participated in a Spiritual Renewal Program in Rome, Italy and
Paderborn, Germany. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sister Nivarda was born in Swoyersville and is the daughter of the late
Adam and Eve Filip. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre will conduct Fall
Kindertot Programs beginning Sept. 9. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Kindertot program is a readiness program geared for children ages 3-5.
The High Reach Learning curriculum is used and includes lessons in math,
science, and language development. There will be an Open House held from 9
a.m. - 4 p.m. on Aug. 26-29 and Sept. 3-6. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center will also conduct Before/After
