WILKES-BARRE -- A man sentenced to three consecutive life terms in prison
for killing three members of a family with a shotgun in February 1995 is
seeking a new trial. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Anthony Kemper, 29, of Nescopeck, who pleaded guilty to killing his cousin,
Joseph Bednarski, 17; his uncle by marriage, David Bednarski, 41; and his
uncle's brother, Gerard Bednarski, 45, is seeking a new trial, according to
the Luzerne County District Attorney's office. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Kemper claims he is entitled to a new trial because: the judge was involved
in his plea agreement; his attorneys refused to defend him; he was not
credited with three months of time served toward his sentence; and he was
sentenced improperly on burglary and theft charges. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 District Attorney Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. said Monday the suit is without
merit. Luzerne County Common Pleas Judge Michael Conahan is scheduled to hear
the request at 9 a.m. Sept 18. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kemper pleaded guilty to the Feb. 16, 1995, killings of the three men with
whom he lived at a three-building compound on rural Ridge Road in Nescopeck
Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police said Kemper had been drinking at a local bar prior to the shootings.
He was arrested at an Interstate 80 truck stop diner shortly after the
shootings. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Man Who Pleaded Guilty To 3 Killings Seeks New Trial
