Rev. Francis Corcoran &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 August 11, 1996 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Rev. Francis P. Corcoran, a retired priest of the Diocese of Scranton, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 died Sunday at Muncy Valley HospitalBorn June 19, 1932, in Williamsport, he
was the son of the late Martin J. and Eleanor A. Cummings Corcoran. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He graduated from St. Joseph's grade school and high school, Williamsport.
Later he attended Mount St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg, Md. Upon completion of
his philosophical and theological studies at Mount St. Mary's, he was ordained
to the priesthood by the Most Rev. Jerome D. Hannan, D.D., late Bishop of
Scranton, at St. Peter's Cathedral, Scranton, on May 31, 1958. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Following ordination, father's first assignment was as assistant pastor at
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Tunkhannock, in June 1958. He was
later assigned to Mater Dolorosa Church and the Church of the Ascension,
Williamsport; St. Ann's, Shohola; St. Francis, West Hazleton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was appointed to his first pastorate at Church of the Holy Child,
Mansfield, in September 1975. In September 1977, he was appointed pastor of
Sacred Heart, Weston. In September 1984, he was appointed pastor of St. Martin
of Tours, Jackson. In September l987, he was appointed pastor of Our Lady of
Lourdes, Montoursville, where he served until his retirement in 1991. He was
then in residence at St. Boniface, Williamsport. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He served as Chaplain of Knights of Columbus Council 336, Williamsport;
Chaplain of Knights of Columbus Council 5605, West Hazleton; Faithful Friar of
Fr. Reichsteiner Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Assembly, Williamsport;
Benedict XIV Assembly, Hazleton; member of the Lycoming County Historical
Society; and in 1959 he was named "Man of the Year" by the Greater
Williamsport Junior Chamber of Commerce. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by a brother, Martin J. Jr. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are a sister, Mary E. (Mollie) Benfer, Roswell, N.M.; and a
niece. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A Pontifical Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at
the Church of the Annunciation, Williamsport, with His Excellency, the Most
Reverend John M. Dougherty, D.D., V.G., Auxiliary Bishop of Scranton,
officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Transferal of the body followed by a Mass will be at 7 p.m. today in St.
Boniface Church, Williamsport, with the Very Rev. Francis J. Castellano, V.F.,
officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Williamsport. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call beginning at 2 p.m. today in St. Boniface Church. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
