Amendment Boosts Retired Officers' Pensions

Thomas J. McCormack &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Aug. 15, 1996 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Thomas J. McCormack, 72, of Plains Township, died Thursday in Wilkes-Barre &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 General HospitalA lifelong resident of Plains Township, he was the son of
the late Thomas and Lucy Greener McCormack. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Plains Township, and served
with the U.S. Navy during World War II. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He worked as a district manager at The Times Leader, Wilkes-Barre, from
June 1952 until October 1978. He was last employed by the Citizens' Voice,
Wilkes-Barre, as a district manager from 1978 until his retirement in May
1987. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was active in the Newspaper Guild Local 120, and was a member of Sacred
Heart Church, Plains Township, and the Plains American Legion Joseph E. Conlon
Post 558. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Rita Smith, on July 4,
1994; a twin brother, Leo, on Oct. 18, 1971; a sister, Emily McKeown, on Jan.
9, 1995. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his son, Thomas, Dallas; daughters, Marietta Bonner,
Plymouth; Patricia Fosko, Pittston; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; a
sister, Sister Marietta McCormack, R.S.M., Dallas. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Corcoran Funeral Home,
20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
in Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Plains Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
