Values LCCC's academic contribution &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) is a valuable community resource,
and as such its reputation should not be besmirched by the wanton pen of
columnists like Steve CorbettThough tempted, we will not speculate on what
motivated Corbett's recent column (Aug. 8) in which he uses a conflict several
employees have with the college to wage an attack on the college's basic
mission of providing citizens of Luzerne County with access to an affordable
and high-quality education. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Over the years, thousands of young people have been given the chance to
succeed in life and in their communities because of the education they
received at the community college. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Consequently, it should be quite understandable why those of us who have
invested our professional lives in the work of the college are outraged and
hurt by the unfair and baseless assertions contained in Corbett's column. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Instead of the attacks, Corbett could have used his column to offer
constructive criticism of the college if he really had legitimate concerns. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Of course, we all know how easy it is to sling arrows and stones,
especially when you don't have to be held accountable for the damage done. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In future columns, we hope Corbett will be guided by the facts when writing
about LCCC. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
