Olympic walkers to compete locally &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Olympians are coming! The Olympians are coming! &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Race fans who make their way to the Sallie Mae Valley Classic on Sunday
morning at the Sallie Mae building at the Hanover Industrial Estates in &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hanover Township may get star-struckAt 9:45 a.m., many of the nation's top
racewalkers will be competing in the United States of America Track and Field
5K National Championship Racewalk, just one of five races offered at the
Sallie Mae event. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A number of racewalkers from the Olympic team and some who competed at the
Olympic trials in Atlanta, including Mountaintop's Maria DeRojas-Moulton, have
pre-registered for the race. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Debbie Lawrence of Kenosha, Wis., a member of the U.S. Olympic team and
current U.S. record-holder on pavement in the women's 5K racewalk, is one of
them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Michele Rohl, of LaGrange, Ga., the home of the U.S. National Training
Center for Racewalking, is another U.S. Olympic team member who has
pre-registered. Rohl holds the U.S. record in the 5K racewalk on the track. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Victoria Herazo, also from LaGrange and a member of the U.S. Olympic team,
will be competing. Herazo was the 1995 women's national champ in the 5K. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. Olympic team member Curt Klausen, of Durham, N.C., who won the men's
20K racewalk at the Olympic trials at Olympic Stadium in Atlanta, on June 22
with a 1-hour, 29-minutes and 50-seconds time, will be on hand. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 U.S. national team member Gary Morgan, of Clarkston, Mich., the 1995 men's
national champ in the 5K, and third-place finisher in 1:31 in the 20K at the
Olympic trials, is also slated to compete. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 So is Dave McGovern, of LaGrange, Ga., who scored back-to-back wins in the
Sallie Mae 5K Racewalk in 1993-94. McGovern had a disappointing performance --
finishing last in 1:45:45 in the men's 20K racewalk at the Olympic trials --
probably due, in part, to the 100-plus degree temperatures in Olympic Stadium
that day. McGovern had been one of the favorites to win the 20K. No doubt he
will be looking to rebound. Look for McGovern, who is a member of the U.S.
national team, to turn in an impressive performance Sunday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Local standout DeRojas-Moulton also was bothered by the grueling heat June
22. She finished 12th in 52:22 in the Olympic trials' women's 10K racewalk.
Her 12th-place finish earned her a spot on the U.S. national team, but she was
expected to finish higher. DeRojas-Moulton will be looking to score big
Sunday, especially because she'll be competing on her home turf. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mike Rohl, also from LaGrange, Ga., is another member of the U.S. national
team who has pre-registered for Sunday's race. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Other big-name racewalkers are expected to compete as well, including
Teresa Vail, of Pine Plains, N.Y., a member of the U.S. national team and last
year's winner in the Northeastern Regional 5K Championship held at Sallie Mae.
Vail's winning time last year, 22:03, is the Sallie Mae female course record. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sunday's Valley Classic begins with a 10K run beginning at 8 a.m. The USATF
5K National Championship Racewalk follows. A 5K run starts at 11 a.m, with a
5K fitness walk beginning five minutes later. And the children's fun run gets
under way at 11:45 a.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Registration and packet pickup on race day begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends 15
minutes before the start of each race. The fee is $15 for all races, except
for the children's fun run, which is $2. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Proceeds from the races go to the Osterhout Free Library. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
