 The Goodwill Hose Co. #1 of Hanover Green is conducting its annual fund
drive. Letters were distributed throughout the Hanover Green, Buttonwood, Korn
Krest, Lincoln Heights, Dundee and Dewey Park areas of Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Residents who have not received a donation envelop may mail contributions
payable to: Goodwill Hose Co. #1, 1 Center St., Hanover Green, Wilkes-Barre,
18702, or contact the Hanover Green Fire House and an envelop will be
provided. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Friends of the Library will meet Tuesday &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library will meet at 8:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, Aug. 27. All members are urged to attend. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A final report on the raffle project will be provided. All returns must be

the ladies auxiliary of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Volunteer Firemen's
Federation meeting on Monday, Aug 26. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The session begins at 8 p.m. at the Goodwill Hose Co. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Arts and Crafts Show &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The 2nd annual Arts and Crafts Show, sponsored by the Wyoming Valley Ice
Skating Club, will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Coal Street Ice-A-Rama,
Wilkes-Barre. Show hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The ladies auxiliary to Dieu Le Veut Commandery #45 Knights of Templar will
convene at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. The meeting will be held in the
fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church, 47 N. Franklin St.,
Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Members attending are asked to bring their favorite salad to share. Betty
Devans will preside. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 WYOMING VALLEY &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Volunteers sought for next Thresholds program &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Volunteers are currently beginning recruited for the Thresholds program
that begins in September. Thresholds is a decision-making program that is
taught to inmates at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas who are
about to be released into their various communities. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Thresholds is taught by volunteers on a one-to-one basis over a period of
nine weeks. The program, although non-religious, is based on Christian
principals and teachings. The only prerequisite is to be a caring person who
desires to reach out to inmates about to take on a new beginning. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Community Service Awards &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Chairperson Anna Cervenak, external affairs manager for Bell Atlantic,
announces that applications are available for entry in the annual Pocono
Northeast Community Awards Program (PNCAP). The Pocono Northeast Development
Fund (PNDF) in cooperation with the Economic Development Council of
Northeastern Pennsylvania are sponsoring the event. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The competition recognizes outstanding achievement in community
involvement, cultural enrichment, economic development, environmental action,
health care, human service, recreation/tourism and media/special events.
Projects completed between July 1, 1995 and June 30, 1996, that improved life
in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne Counties
are eligible. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Entries must be received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. For further details
