Voting machines to be viewed &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Residents will get a chance to try out the devices. The decision to
purchase them will be on a November referendumPITTSTON -- Luzerne County
voters are entering the electronic age at this weekend's Pittston Tomato
Festival. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The AVC Advantage, an electronic voting machine manufactured by Sequoia
Pacific Corp., has been on display since the festival opened on Thursday, and
will remain on display until the festival closes tomorrow. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Voters have the opportunity to cast sample ballots on the machine, and
county workers are on hand to provide assistance and answer questions. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pending the outcome of a November referendum, the county plans to purchase
400 machines at a cost of $2 million to $2.5 million. The AVC Advantage would
replace the mechanical models that have been in use for 60 years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The machine will make an appearance at several other public events in the
coming months. Here's a schedule: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Farmers Market, Wilkes-Barre, Aug. 29; Luzerne County Fair, state Route
118, Dallas Township, Sept. 4-8; "Get Connected" (sponsored by American
Association of Retired Persons), Genetti Hotel &amp; Convention Center,
Wilkes-Barre, Sept. 5; Hazleton Funfest; Hazleton, Sept. 7-8; Heritage
Festival, Kingston, Sept. 13-15; Wyoming Cornfest, October (date to be
announced). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
