Woodlands should take sober view of LCB record &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Night after night, strobe lights flicker over the dance floor at the
Woodlands &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Inn &amp; Resort, charging the already-heated atmosphere with even more power
and driveAnd night after night, apparently, another light starts flickering a
few blocks away. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This one sits on the Plains Township police switchboard. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Woodlands' owners should act fast to put that second light out. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Plains Township police have responded to more than 900 incidents at the
popular complex in the last three years, Times Leader Staff Writer Rick Rogers
reported Thursday. That's an average of almost one a day. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As averages go, this one's a disgrace. We don't care if a business is a car
wash, a coffee shop or a cathouse, for that matter. When a company sees police
so often that it practically could greet officers by their first names and
inquire after their spouses, something's wrong. And the state Liquor Control
Board is right to raise its wine-red flag. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The board recommended that licenses at the Woodlands and the Cabaret Bar in
Kingston not be renewed, Rogers reported. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In contesting that recommendation, the Woodlands' owners almost surely will
list many reasons why the license should in fact be renewed. But this would be
the most convincing reason of all: "Beefed-up security, better training for
staff members and redoubled vigilance by bartenders led to a 60 percent drop
in the number of police calls to our facility," the owners should strive to
report. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Because until they do, the red-and-blue police lights dancing almost
nightly on the Woodlands' outside walls will trump any arguments the owners
could make. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Don't misunderstand. Times Leader staff members routinely visit the
Woodlands. Our company has held many corporate functions there, and enjoys the
fine service and first-class facilities the complex offers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other words, the Woodlands is anything but a typical "nuisance bar." And
our interest is in safety alone, not in shutting the facility down. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Woodlands' owners should vow to learn from experience in this fashion:
Keep the flash. Keep the dazzle. Keep the excitement. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But jettison the flirtation with anarchy, or whatever it is that has kept
Plains Township police coming back to the resort time and again. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
