`Once Upon a Mattress' opening in Swoyersville Sept. 6 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Spoof of `The Princess and the Pea' will play at the Music Box through
Sept28. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom -- especially suited for musical
comedy -- lived a prince who wished to marry a princess. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 But they could wed only if she could pass the nasty queen's impossible test
of sensitivity: to stay awake on top of 20 soft, downy mattresses with a tiny
pea stuck underneath. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The hilarious spoof of the children's classic, "The Princess and the Pea,"
is called "Once Upon a Mattress" and will be presented at The Music Box Dinner
Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville. The show opens Sept. 6, with
performances Sept. 7, 8, 12 to 15, 19 to 22 and 26 to 28. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The music was composed by Mary Rodgers (daughter of famous composer Richard
Rodgers) with lyrics by Marshall Barer and a book by Jay Thompson, Dean
Fuller, and Marshall Barer. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The musical opened on Broadway in 1959, and catapulted Carol Burnett to
instant stardom. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Music Box production of "Once Upon A Mattress" will be directed by
Debbie Zehner, with musical direction by Linda McClosky Houck. Sets and
lighting are by Michael Gallagher and costumes by K.D. Love. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Cast in the leading role as the hopeful Princess Winifred the Woebegone is
Ellen O'Brien. Her hopeful but hapless Prince is played by John Owen Kennedy.
His overbearing mother, the Queen, is played by Evelyn Tomasovic, and the
henpecked, silent King is played by Lee Thomas. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Other principal players are: E.T. Goman, Regina Rockensies, Eric Bailey,
Tony Alberti, and Justin Youron. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ladies and lords of the court are played by Cathy Alaimo, Ron Araya, Justin
John Costello, Richard Zavacki, Dave Chapman, Linda Phillips-Orseck, Jody
Barbarulo, Beth Kolojejchick, Tara McNulty and Mary Ross. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Performance times are Thursday through Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sunday
matinees are at 3:15 p.m. For dinner times, ticket prices or to make
