TUNKHANNOCK -- Fire officials ruled a fire that destroyed the Tunkhannock
Community Ambulance Association garage and all of the equipment in it Monday
morning an accident. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The fire, which caused $700,000 in damage, was determined to have started
in a trash can within the building, police said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Two ambulances, a rescue truck, a dive truck and a hover craft were
destroyed in the fire. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "The equipment was fairly well insured," said Bruce Gardener, a member of
the Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 According to fire officials, the fire was called in at 4:45 a.m. Monday
morning. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The ambulance association serves Tunkhannock, Tunkhannock Township, Lemon
Township and Eaton Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As of Tuesday, the association was back in operation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "At the preset time, we have a loaner ambulance from Montrose in
Susquehanna County," Gardener said. "By the end of the week, we will have a
leased ambulance here." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The association's former headquarters will be demolished, Gardener said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's just a matter of cleaning up the rubble," he said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The association was planning a move in the near future. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "About a month ago, the ambulance association purchased property on North
Bridge Street so we could build our own garage," Gardener said. "The building
that was destroyed did not belong to us." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Construction of the new garage, which was originally set to begin in the
spring, will begin much sooner, Gardener said. He said he didn't know when. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Accidental Fire Destroys Ambulance Garage
