 Sewer ordinance unanimously approved &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The township council voted unanimously Monday night to adopt a sewer
connection and use ordinance, intended to raise money for sewer construction, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 including work near the proposed arenaMayor Robert Delescavage called the
action "a step into the next century." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The action, made by council member Frank Tarnalicki and seconded by vice
president Lorraine Mrackoski, should help provide sewer capacity for not only
the proposed arena/convention center but future development at the Highland
Industrial Park, council members said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Council member Gary Polakoski called the ordinance "an investment in the
future economic strength" of the township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Under the ordinance, anyone building in the township would be required to
pay an initial sewer connection fee, currently proposed at $500. Existing
structures would face a "debt reduction fee." Neither fees have been
permanently set, however. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bruce Phillips, township attorney, said the council is proposing a 15-year
period for completion of the sewer project near Highland Park. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The fees could raise about $250,000 per year, but council members did not
say what the total cost of the project would be. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Phillips added that a separate fund would be created for sewer fee revenues
and sewer-related expenses. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A possible phase plan for the sewer project was discussed, and Mrackoski
requested a thorough inventory of the current system prior to any action. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Council passed a resolution honoring American Legion Post 815 and it
accepted a bid to demolish a property at 1053 Kidder St. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
