Stella Monica Sundberg &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Stella Monica Sundberg, 83, formerly of Pittston, died in Vermont Dec. 20, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 1996, where she was living with her daughter, JuneBorn April 26, 1913 in
Hamilton, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Saimos and Michelina
Ruta, formerly of Lithuania. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was a 1933 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Before retiring, she worked as a registered nurse at the Mercy Hospital,
Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She attended St. John's Lutheran Church, in Pittston, and spent many hours
doing volunteer work for the American Red Cross, the Pittston Ambulance
Association and the Girl Scouts of America. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was married to Captain Gustave Sundberg, who preceded her in death in
1992. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are a daughter, June, of Vermont; sons, Gustave, and his spouse,
Dolores, of New Jersey; Thor, and his spouse, Cheryl Neubauer, of Wisconsin.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Eric, Christopher, Brynn, Noah, and
Susan Jurowicz; Charles Martin, the companion of her daughter, June, and his
daughter, Erika. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John's Lutheran Church,
Pittston, with the Rev. Russell Kerns officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment was held in Lithuanian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red
Cross, Wyoming Valley Chapter, 156 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701, or a
public library of the donor's choice. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
