Navy Petty Officer Third Class James T. Miller, a 1993 graduate of Benton
Area &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 High School, recently returned from supporting search and recovery efforts
of &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; TWA Flight 800, while serving aboard the amphibious transport dock, USS &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Trenton, home ported in Norfolk, Va. Miller joined the U.S. Navy in August &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 1993Navy Lt. J.G. Anthony J. Kotarski, son of Marguerite L. Kotarski,
Laflin, returned from a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian
oceans aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Arkansas. The 1987 graduate of
James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, joined the U.S. Navy in May 1991.
Kotarski is a 1991 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., with a
bachelor of science degree. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Navy Petty Officer Third Class Scott A. Myrthel, a 1992 graduate of West
Scranton High School, recently graduated from the U.S. Navy's Basic Nuclear
Power School at Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y. During
the six-month course, Myrthel received fundamental training in several
technical fields related to the nuclear power program. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Navy Petty Officer Third Class Gerald E. Levandoski, son of Gerald
Levandoski Sr., Mountaintop, and Elsie M. Levandoski, Mountaintop, recently
graduated from the U.S. Navy's Basic Nuclear Power School at Naval Nuclear
Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y. Levandoski is a 1994 graduate of
Crestwood High School, Mountaintop. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marine Staff Sgt. Robin E. O'Brien, daughter of Rosanne Gemzik, Avoca,
recently received the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal while assigned with
Marine Wing Support Squadron 472, Wyoming. The 1988 graduate of Seton Catholic
High School, Exeter, joined the U.S. Marine Corps in February 1988. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marine Cpl. Robert Vitale, son of Joseph S. and Ann M. Vitale Jr., West
Nanticoke, Plymouth Township, recently received the Selected Marine Corps
Reserve Medal while assigned with Marine Wing Support Squadron 472, Wyoming.
The 1992 graduate of John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke, joined the U.S.
Marine Corps in May 1993. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marine Lance Cpl. Brian M. Alu, son of Romayne Alu, Exeter, recently
received the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal while assigned with Marine
Wing Support Squadron 472, Wyoming. The 1991 graduate of Wyoming Area High
School, Exeter, joined the U.S. Marine Corps in November 1992. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marine Lance Cpl. Jacob M. Reiff, a 1993 graduate of Hazleton Area High
School, recently reported for duty with Third Maintenance Battalion, Third
Force Service Support Group, Okinawa, Japan. Reiff joined the U.S. Marine
Corps in May 1995. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Navy Petty Officer First Class Robert J. Orgill, son of Robert J. Orgill,
Scranton, recently received the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
Orgill serves at Naval Hospital, Groton, Conn. The 1983 graduate of Scranton
Central High School joined the U.S. Navy in October 1983. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marine Pvt. Melanie R. Peters, daughter of Dennis R. Peters, RR 4, Berwick,
recently completed 11 weeks of basic training at U.S. Marine Corps Recruit
Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Peters is a 1996 graduate of Berwick Area Senior
High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Brian J. Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Roberts, Plymouth Township,
was recently promoted to captain by the U.S. Air Force during a ceremony at
Wright-Peterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. Roberts is a 1988 graduate of
John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke, and a 1992 graduate of the University of
Pittsburgh. He is assigned to the National Air Intelligence Center as an
intelligence analyst. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
