Toys for all the girls and boys, to play with until they grow up &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Christmas shopping for the children on my list got me thinking about
toysThere's a child in all of us, and I think there are toys out there that
meet the needs of many people in the area. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Here's what my shopping list would look like: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Baby So Real for the Hazleton Area School Board. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She screams loudly and flails her arms until you pick her up. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She'd be a perfect addition at board meetings. Someone in the audience
could be in charge of turning her on when the discussion turns to politics
instead of children. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Baby should also hang out during Pupil-Teacher Committee interviews to
oppose nepotism. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Teacher Barbie for taxpayers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She doesn't teach unless you make her, but she's under $30. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Play-Doh for teacher Elizabeth Rossi. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 One set comes with cookie cutters, a rolling pin and cake decorators, so
with enough practice, she'd be a shoo-in to get that pastry arts
certification. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Crayons for City Councilman John Tarone. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 They're not as professional as pencils, but even Maurice Christino would
have a tough time saying he was threatened by the new colors, "macaroni and
cheese" or "robin's egg blue." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lucky Ducks for the School Board. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Quacking ducks rotate swiftly around a pond, and you have to pick a winner
with the correct color sticker underneath. The board should label each duck
with the names of people interested in the vacant seat and pick the winner. At
least those without political pull would have some chance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Twister for the School Board. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 No real reason, I just think it would be funny to watch them play. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Construction paper for City Council. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Might as well liven up all those revisions they're making to Mayor Mike
Marsicano's budget. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Toy Story for all politicians. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Makes you realize that old toys are sometimes better than the shiny new
ones. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Stress Express for Mike Marsicano. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Reporter Mark Guydish got me this one for Christmas, and I think Mike would
get a kick out of it. A device that sounds like an electric razor launches a
small helicopter across the office. Maybe it would persuade pilot Mike to stay
in his mayor's office more often. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Playschool building blocks for district Business Manager/Board Secretary
Donald Boyer. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Maybe he could build us a replica of the new school construction since he's
never available to answer our questions about them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Boyer could share the blocks with vocational students studying construction
since they won't get to build that modular home as planned. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Shovel and pail for all area officials with strip mines in their
municipalities. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Since nobody's doing anything about the mine-scarred land, they should be
forced to go out and play in it. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bicycles for Hazleton Police. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Just in case they don't get those new cruisers. The wheels of a rundown
city police car actually fell off about a decade ago, so you can never be too
prepared. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Cabbage Patch Snack Time Kid doll for the high school swimmers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Since this doll eats children's hair, maybe she'll be interested in the
hair balls that accumulate in the high school pool. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wet-n-Whizzer for Hazleton Police. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This puppy leaks real water until you learn how to train him. Thought
police should have him around to get used to the trained canines they're
getting this year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mini police cars with real sirens for Hazle Township supervisors. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Maybe they'll inspire the supervisors to start their own police force. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Chemistry set for student Michael DeNoia (without mercury, of course). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Maybe he'll get his fascination with chemicals out of his system and learn
something at the same time. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 While I'm at it, throw a set in for the maintenance workers who dump too
much chlorine in the high school pool. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Computer learning games for all Hazleton Area School District students. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There are countless ones on the market for all age groups. Everyone should
have one on hand so their minds don't get too rusty if the teachers strike. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Candy Land. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 If the teachers do go on strike, there's always Candy Land. No reading is
required. The object: "Be the first to find the Candy Castle at the end of the
path." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On second thought, I think too many officials have already worn this game
out. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
