Raymond Rittenhouse &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 5, 1997 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Raymond Rittenhouse, 72, of Orchard Street, Nanticoke, died Sunday at the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Birchwood Nursing Center, NanticokeBorn April 27, 1924, in Hunlock Creek,
he was the son of the late Raymond and Rachel Crossley Rittenhouse. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned the Purple Heart
for his service during battle. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was employed by Alden Coal Co. for many years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by a sister, Elmina Shields. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife, the former Rose M. Skipalis; daughters, Cathy
Schuler, Mountaintop; Joyce Topper, Nanticoke; a son, Raymond; no hometown
given five grandchildren; a sister, Marion Wallace, Hunlock Creek; and a
brother, Daniel, Hunlock Creek. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Military funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by
Nanticoke Post 350 at the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., Sunset Lake Road,
Hunlock Creek. The Rev. Thurman Lowder, of the Apostolic Faith Church,
Hazleton, will officiate. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Community Car Inc., 385
Wyoming Ave., Kingston, 18704. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
