Judge should keep his opinion to himself &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The commentary by Judge Correale Stevens regarding the loss of public
confidence in law enforcement officers was out of touch with reality (Dec23). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Waco, Tex., and Ruby Ridge calamities are perfect examples of things
gone haywire. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Scranton Police Department needs a police
department to police them. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In today's society there are too many bad apples in the barrel. Those in
our judicial process -- police officers, judges, lawyers, etc. -- who take an
oath to uphold the law and conduct themselves properly will always be heroes,
and the public will recognize those efforts. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Judge Stevens, talk to residents about why they have lost faith in our
courthouse. Display leadership and take steps to improve the situation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Judge Stevens is entitled to his opinion, but he should keep it to himself
as long as he sits in judgment of us. He should be neutral until he chooses to
terminate his position and join citizens groups and write editorials. Then we
will welcome him. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
