 Wednesday's story by Mary Therese Biebel on LCCC's quest for a new
president evoked one of those yes-we-should-have-gone-with-that-soluti
on-in-the-beginning momentsGiven it's recent problems, Luzerne County
Community College would benefit greatly from hiring a search firm to canvas
the country for a suitable president. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Yes, a good consultant could cost upwards of $22,000, but given the
college's rather sorry track record in filling that vacancy, it would seem
worth the expense. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Just consider. A good search firm possesses the staff, data and
impartiality that could provide LCCC with a list of potential candidates whose
character, experience and suitability could save the college's administration
hundreds of hours of research and interview time. The school's tattered
reputation would be saved from additional wear and tear. And the community --
especially the faculty and students -- will no longer feel like unwilling
players in a game of Russian roulette. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Acting President Tom Moran, said in April 1995 when he took over following
Donald Bronsard's resignation in the wake of sexual of harassment charges
against him: "You don't have to re-shape the image of the college as much as
to bring it into focus." We urge LCCC's Board of Trustees to regain that
focus. Hire a good consulting firm and get the search underway now. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
