Hoinski finalists &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Here are the finalists for the Killer Bees Athletic Club's Joe Hoinski &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Memorial Awards for Excellence in Athletics. There are three finalists in
each division except for open female, where there are four finalists because
of a tie in the voting. The awards will be given at the 14th annual KBAC
banquet at &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Wilkes-BarreOpen
Male &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mike Geurin, former Lake-Lehman star, All-American wrestler at Lock Haven
University. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jim Martin Sr., Wilkes-Barre, karate champ who was inducted into the world
karate hall of fame in 1996. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ron Powlus, a former Berwick football star, now Notre Dame's quarterback,
who broke school records for touchdown passes in a season and a career in
1996. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Open Female &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Diane Madl, a former Crestwood High School and University of Connecticut
field hockey star who competed for the United States at the 1996 Summer
Olympics. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Molly O'Malley, a former Tunkhannock High School field hockey star who
helped Princeton University reach in the NCAA Division I championship game. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jen Smith, a former Lake-Lehman High School star who was ECAC player of the
year for College Misericordia. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Karen Stefanowicz, a former Lake-Lehman star who pitched Trenton State
College to the NCAA Division III softball title and who was named All-American
for the second consecutive year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Scholastic Male &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mike Davis, who in his senior year with the Bishop Hoban High School
swimming team won two state titles and broke a state record. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 John Dessoye, who in his senior year at Pittston Area High School won two
gold medals at the state track and field championships and was named a High
School All-American. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Harold Jackson, who became the career leading rusher in GAR High School
football history this past season. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Scholastic Female &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Chrissy Ashley, a three-sport star at Wyoming Seminary who was named to the
U.S. 16-Under Select Field Hockey Team last year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Carissa Messimer, a two-sport star at Crestwood who was named to the U.S.
16-Under Select Field Hockey Team last year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Joanne Polakoski, who finished as an all-star in basketball and softball in
her final year at Meyers High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
