Honoring a leader &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Wilkes University Polish Room Committee sponsored the Kosciuszko Ball
held &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Saturday, Jan. 4, in the grand ballroom of the Genetti Hotel and Convention &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Center, Wilkes-BarreEva Salkiewicz-Munnerlyn, J.D., Ph.D., consul, Embassy
of the Republic of Poland, Washington, D.C., was the honored guest and speaker
at the event. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Munnerlyn spoke about Tadeusz Kosciuszko, a son of liberty who left his
home in Poland to fight for the American Revolution. The ball was named in his
honor. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Inspired by the success of democracy in America, Kosciuszko returned to
Poland to continue what he saw was a just cause -- freedom for all people. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As a tribute to Kosciuszko, and to perpetuate his ideals in the two
countries he served, the United States and Poland, the Kosciuszko Foundation
was formed in 1925. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The local club, known as the Wilkes University Polish Room Society, holds
monthly dinner meetings. Membership is open to Americans of Polish ancestry.
