Sr. Catherine Mahoney &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 14, 1997 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Sr. Catherine Marie Mahoney, R.S.M., formerly known as Sr. Mary Cornelius,
of &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Mercy Center, Dallas, died Tuesday at the Mercy Center Nursing UnitBorn
April 27, 1912 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and
Catherine Golden Mahoney. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A graduate of Carbondale High School, she entered the Sisters of Mercy at
Dallas on Sept. 8, 1941, and took Final Vows on Aug. 16, 1947. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sister graduated from College Misericordia and received a master's degree
from the University of Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She taught at schools in the following areas: New Oxford, Loretto,
Honesdale, Towanda, Wilkes-Barre, Lancaster, Carlisle, and Great Neck, N.Y. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She joined the Apostolate of Prayer at Mercy Center in 1985. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are her sister, Ann C. Mahoney, Carbondale; nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Transferal to Mercy Center will be at 1 p.m. today with a wake service at 7
p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Chapel. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Arrangements are by the E. Blake Collins Funeral Directors, Wilkes-Barre
and Kingston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
