Dogged persistence saves injured woman &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 On Jan. 5 my mother, Mary Puscavage, returning home from a night of Bingo,
had a terrible accident. She was found lying in a pool of blood after she lost
her balance and had fallen down five steps of her front porchWe don't know how
long she lay there. It could have been all night had it not been for her dogs.
The household was asleep, but the dogs knew something was wrong. They barked
and cried until someone came to help. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; At first, looking out the front door, we saw no one and began to return
upstairs, when the dogs started crying and jumping at the door and window. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Her faithful companions came to her rescue, and we opened the door to find
her. My mother was very lucky. Our street is not very busy and rarely is
anyone out walking after 11 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The crews from the Greater Pittston Ambulance and the Plains Ambulance
responded immediately with patience and understanding. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 My mother is now in the John Heinz rehabilitation institute for physical
therapy. If it was not for her cocker spaniels, Mindy and Daisy, she could
have lain on the sidewalk all night. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
