Joseph Murphy &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 20, 1997 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Joseph R. Murphy of West Oak Street, Old Forge, died Monday upon arrival at
the Community Medical Center, ScrantonBorn in Carbondale, he was the son of
the late Thomas and Bertha Karl Murphy. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He settled in Old Forge 31 years ago and was educated in Carbondale schools
and served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He graduated from I.C.S. schools and Johnson Technical Institute, Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was employed as a welder and mechanic by the former Superior Door and
Sash Company, Scranton, and later by Roadway Express for 12 years, retiring
from the Suckle Corp., Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He and his wife, the former Stella Lefchak, celebrated their 31st wedding
anniversary on May 8, 1996. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Murphy. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Joseph Murphy, at home; a
daughter, Kathleen Pritchyk, Montdale; a sister, Mary Daly, Warwick, N.Y.;
four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Thomas P. Kearney
Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in
St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge, with Msgr. Stephen Zajac,
pastor, officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in the parish cemetery. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Parastas service will
be conducted at 3 p.m. today. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
