Court rejects appeal of prison sentence &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 An appeals court last week rejected a Plains Township lawyer's appeal of a
prison sentence for mail fraudThe U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
turned down an appeal by Ronald D. Oley, a lawyer sentenced to 24 months in
prison for losing or misappropriating more than $500,000 in clients' money. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Oley, who was ordered to report to federal prison Feb. 5, claimed he
cooperated with the government on more than one investigation and that his
help should have been taken into account when he was sentenced by U.S.
District Judge William Nealon earlier this month. He also argued that his
attorneys were not given adequate notice when officials increased an estimate
of how much money his clients had lost. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The court found no basis for his arguments, U.S. Circuit Judge Robert E.
Cowen said in an opinion dated Jan. 15. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Probation office aide seeks dismissal of suit &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 SCRANTON -- Luzerne County Assistant Chief Probation Officer James
Marinello on Tuesday asked a federal judge to dismiss a sexual harassment
lawsuit by a co-worker. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marinello filed a motion asking U.S. District Judge William J. Nealon to
dismiss a lawsuit by Ann Marie Braskey, also an assistant chief probation
officer. A copy of the motion was not available Wednesday because it was in
Nealon's chambers, a clerk said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Braskey's lawsuit claims that starting in 1993, Marinello, a former
boyfriend, created a hostile working environment by making explicit comments
about their relationship to co-workers and the media and attempting to
undermine her authority. The suit, which was filed in October, seeks more than
$200,000 in damages. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
